Artista francese, Cècile Batillat trova nella grafite e nell'inchiostro gli strumenti più idonei attraversi i quali esprimere le proprie percezioni. Elaborando uno stile vibrante, efficace, raffinato e visionario basato sul genere del ritratto, con elementi desunti sia dalla cultura Occidentale che da quella Orientale, l'artista genera immagini di un'immediatezza visiva non comune che proprio nel mix di contrasti custodiscono il loro fascino. 

Alla delicatezza e alla capacità di sintesi della pittura giapponese, alla quale Batillat si connette anche attraverso l'inserimento nei suoi disegni di piccoli haicku volti a esplicare il senso profondo dell'opera, si unisce un tratto grafico deciso che conferisce plasticità alle figure, dando quasi la sensazione che vogliano fuoriuscire dal supporto per invadere lo spazio fisico di chi si pone in dialogo visivo ed emozionale con esse. 

Scegliendo di rinunciare ad un apparato cromatico, Cècile si affida esclusivamente al potere evocativo e descrittivo del disegno, riuscendo così ad orientare rapidamente l'attenzione dell'osservatore su ogni minimo dettaglio che contraddistingue le sue raffigurazioni. 

Opere nelle quali uno spiccato realismo, volto alla restituzione della profondità espressiva dei soggetti, si connette ad atmosfere fiabesche, talvolta surreali, testimoniando l'esigenza dell'artista di restituire attraverso il disegno non una realtà concreta ma piuttosto un racconto intimo dell'essere, che richiede all'astante una visione che va oltre la figurazione stessa.

Cécile Batillat - Drawing as a story and listening to inner reality

French artist Cècile Batillat finds in graphite and ink the most suitable tools through which to express her perceptions. Developing a vibrant, effective, refined and visionary style based on the portrait genre, with elements taken from both Western and Eastern culture, the artist generates images of an uncommon visual immediacy that preserve their charm precisely in the mix of contrasts.

The delicacy and ability to synthesize Japanese painting, to which Batillat also connects through the inclusion in her drawings of small haicku aimed at explaining the profound meaning of the work, is combined with a decisive graphic line that gives plasticity to the figures, almost giving the sensation that they want to escape from the support to invade the physical space of those who enter into visual and emotional dialogue with them.

Choosing to forgo a chromatic apparatus, Cècile relies exclusively on the evocative and descriptive power of drawing, thus managing to quickly direct the observer's attention to every minimal detail that distinguishes her representations.

Works in which a marked realism, aimed at restituting the expressive depth of the subjects, connects to fairy-tale, sometimes surreal atmospheres, testifying to the artist's need to return through drawing not a concrete reality but rather an intimate story of being, which requires the onlooker a vision that goes beyond the figuration itself.
